Patient-Directed Medical Records Wednesday, 03 February 2010 16:43 The logical step following the creation of electronic medical records (EMRs) is granting access to those records by the patients themselves, who care more than anyone else about the accuracy and effectiveness of examinations, treatments, prescriptions and all the other activities that go into creating EMRs. Both VA, with its MyHealtheVet Website, and the Military Health System, with its new MHS Patient Portal, are trying to provide their patients with direct, online access to this information.
