EHR Software

Skaneateles Falls, N.Y.-based Welch Allyn released version 1.6.2 of its CardioPerfect Workstation software, which is designed to offer better compatibility for electronic health records. The software is designed to store and review diagnostic test data from a variety of instruments. Features include compatibility with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 as well as pediatric interpretation for the software’s ECG module.

The CardioPerfect Workstation 1.6.2 spirometry module complies with the American Thoracic Society’s 2005 standards for accuracy and precision.

Patient Transporter

Direct Medical of Hendaye, France, said its Slide Medical System is designed to allow anyone to easily move a person from an ambulance stretcher to a bed, X-ray table or operating table. The system consists of two separate, polycarbonate L-shaped panels with a sliding runner and a coated handle intended to prevent skin friction. Direct Medical said the product is also useful for bathing patients and changing bedding.

The Slide System can either be thermo-sterilized or immersed in a special disinfecting solution.

Vein Illumination

Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.-based AccuVein said it contracted with the General Services Administration to allow various government organizations, including VA and military hospitals, to purchase the AccuVein AV300 handheld, non-contact vein illumination device. The device is intended for locating hard-tofind veins, which can take up to 10 minutes and multiple needle sticks to locate. Users of the AV300, which weighs 10 ounces, hold the device over the patient’s skin to get a map of underlying veins.

Medic Packs

Minneapolis-based Minnesota Thermal Science said the new version of its transport device, the Original Golden Hour Container, features modular lightweight load-carrying equipment (MOLLE) technology and ACU fabric. The medic packs are designed to protect blood and other temperaturesensitive medical supplies for at least 72 hours under harsh ambient conditions. The containers, which are reusable and don’t use ice, can now be attached directly to a combat medic’s gear.

CBRNE Sensor Software

Norwalk, Conn.-based Defentect unveiled a commercial version of its DM3 managing, monitoring and messaging software for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) sensors. The software coordinates collection of data and helps facilitate response during an event. Sensors from Defentect or third-party manufacturers can be easily added to the Internet Protocol-based system, the company said.

“Defentect’s DM3 is that ‘brain’ capable of integrating both our own and other commercial sensors and handling the data according to each customer’s unique requirements,” said Defentect President Frank O’Connor.


Tablet PC

Irvine, Calif.-based American Industrial Systems (AIS) unveiled its new 8.4-inch and 10.4-inch Rugged Tablet PCs. The 8.4-inch device, the IA160 series, runs on Intel’s N270 Atom processors, while the 10.4-inch device, the V8011 series, runs on the VIA C7M Nano 1.2 GHz processor. The PCs are made from an aluminum-magnesium alloy and have individually sealed ports to protect them from water and dust.

AIS received UL60601-1 medical equipment certification for the PCs, which also meet military 810F standards for shocks, vibrations and drops. The devices use lithium ion batteries and feature integrated 802.11 b/g WiFi and Bluetooth modules, programmable buttons and touch-screens that are readable in sunlight. Accessories include charging bases, barcode scanners, carrying straps and GPS receivers.


Waste Incinerator

Carmi, Ill.-based Elastec/American Marine said its new MediBurn30 portable incinerator features larger chambers than the original MediBurn product, as well as new safety features, such as a door lock and door sensor, to help prevent accidents. The product is designed to use fuel more efficiently thanks to “under-air technology and modulating burners” and a new electronics suite that includes multilingual user options. The MediBurn30 weighs 2,440 pounds.
